Scotland: The Big Picture
Creating a series of compelling brand visuals to encourage businesses to play a critical role in rewilding Scotland's land and sea.
The brief
- Scotland: The Big Picture emphasize ecological restoration and community involvement to build a resilient, wildlife-rich environment and strengthen the connection between people and nature.
- The SBP team brought me on board to create a series of compelling brand visuals that would encourage rewilding businesses partnerships through their organisation.
- The goal was to create a range of visually engaging and informative materials, both printed and digital, that would essentially empower businesses to play a critical role in the transformational recovery of Scotland’s land and seas through rewilding.
The idea
- I started out by illustrating a wealth of iconic Scottish species relevant to rewilding such as red squirrels, sea eagles, Scot’s pines, pine martens, crested tits and deer—in my own iconic, minimal and playful style.
- The species were brought together to form a large, impactful and iconic Scottish Highlands scene, flourishing with wildlife and human activities in a healthy, nature-rich environment.
The result
- I am so proud of the result (especially the badges!) and feel incredibly grateful to have been able to contribute to this project to bring the ideas of the SBP team to life.
Illustrating a nature-rich Scottish landscape
I began by illustrating iconic Scottish species vital to rewilding (red squirrels, sea eagles, Scots pines, pine martens, crested tits, and deer) in my signature minimal, playful style.
Rewilding badges
We wanted elements of the project to evoke nostalgia. Inspired by classic Scout badges and '60s adventure patches sewn onto backpacks and jackets, I designed a series of 'rewilding badges' that are given to businesses when they join the project.
