The brief
- Scotland currently ranks as one of the most nature-depleted countries on Earth.
- The Scottish Rewilding Alliance (a coalition of more than 20 charities and wildlife campaign groups) approached me to create the graphics for their campaign to declare Scotland the world’s first Rewilding Nation.
- The campaign's ultimate aim is for the Scottish Government to commit to nature recovery across 30% of our land and seas.
The idea
- Bringing together text and imagery, the goal was to capture the diverse natural and human elements of rewilding on land and at sea.
- From lynx to beavers, seals to whales, I illustrated a series of iconic Scottish species that are being encourged to return due to the rewilding efforts here in Scotland.
The result
- The Scottish Rewilding Alliance presented the illustrated artwork as a 'Vision of Hope' to Dr Alasdair Allan MSP, the Minister for Climate Action, at a campaign launch reception in the city of Edinburgh.
- Since the Rewilding Nation Charterlaunched, thousands of people have signed it, with their own messages of hope.
Bespoke, crafted illustrations
The illustrations were seamlessly woven together into a large, impactful rewilding scene. The aim was to depict the interconnectedness of people, wildlife, and habitats within a thriving Scottish landscape - spanning from land to sea.

Designing the rewilding leaflets
After completing the illustrations, I designed the campaign leaflets, using the brand colours and fonts to create a clear, impactful printed tri-fold that communicates the seven-step pathway to becoming a rewilding nation.

The Result
The Scottish Rewilding Alliance presented the illustrated artwork as a 'Vision of Hope' to Dr Alasdair Allan MSP, the Minister for Climate Action, at a campaign launch reception in the city of Edinburgh.
