Pollinating Cheshire
Creating a vibrant and impactful information pack for Cheshire Wildlife Trust to guide landowners through the wildflower meadow planting process.

Ed's passion for the natural world, combined with his ability to bring our ideas to life, was exactly what we needed to create a visually stunning and highly informative piece of work.
The Brief
- Since the 1930s, Cheshire has lost 99% of its wildflower meadows, devastating pollinator populations. Cheshire Wildlife Trust are on a mission to reverse this trend.
- The CWT team appointed me to create an impactful printed piece to support their mission of planting 300 hectares of wildflower meadows by 2030.
- My brief was to design and illustrate an information pack to guide landowners through the meadow planting process, step-by-step, season-by-season.
The Idea
- It began with first-hand research, observing the native wildflowers on my doorstep.
- The first part of the brief was to create an extensive series of botanical illustrations that would help people identify which native wildflowers to look out for during the first and second growing seasons.
- Collaborating closely with The Wildlife Trust team, I then designed a series of infographics to guide landowners through the various stages of planting wildflowers throughout the seasons.
The Result
- The result is a playful yet informative resource that brings the meadow-making process to life for landowners in the field.
- The packs were sustainably printed in large batches on high-quality card, with a sturdy envelope to hold the inner pages together.
- Distributed nationwide, they played a key role in the Pollinating Cheshire campaign, supporting biodiversity and habitat restoration across the country.
- CWT have now completed 145 of 300 hectares of meadows, and are well on the way to reaching their ambitious target.

The brief
The Wildlife Trust commissioned me to design and illustrate an engaging wildflower meadow information pack, to guide landowners through the meadow-making process.

The illustrations
It began with the all-important research - closely observing the characteristics of native wildflowers. This informed the foundations of the project, and inspired the botanical illustrations for the wildflower ID cards.

Thoughtful design
Bespoke iconography and infographics were crafted to guide people through each step of the seasonal meadow planting process. Diagrams, timelines, and meadow management plans were all designed for clarity, impact, and ease of use.

The packaging
The packaging concept drew inspiration from wildflowers, flourishing and growing taller as the recipient opens the outer envelope. Collaborating with the printers, we aligned the folds perfectly with the design - a technical challenge we successfully achieved!

Crafted & carefully curated
Every element was carefully designed and curated, resulting in a rich, playful yet functional experience, empowering landowners to take to the field and plant wildflower meadows with confidence.

The result
The landowner information packs play a key role in the Pollinating Cheshire campaign, and CWT have now completed 145 of 300 hectares of meadows, helping to drive biodiversity and habitat restoration across Cheshire.
