Papercut

Vegan Entomology

A personal project celebrating insects. The ongoing papercut series is inspired by traditional entomology.

“I embrace emerging experience.
I participate in discovery.
I am a butterfly.
I am not a butterfly collector.”

William Stafford

Field research

The artwork series was inspired by the insects in the garden of my family home where I grew up in South Wales - a haven for wildlife and minibeasts! Blog post coming soon...

The papercut process

I created a multi-layered 3D design for each insect, aiming to capture the species' iconic features in my own playful and minimal style. Layer by layer, I carefully assembled the cutouts into 3D sculptures.

Prototyping was key—reworking layers, adding and removing details until the delicate paper specimens felt just right.

An evolving collection

This is an ongoing series of intricate, iconic papercut insects, celebrating 'the little things that run the world.' My papercut insect collection continues to evolve, with new specimens gradually released in my online shop - framed, carefully packaged, and flown to your door.
